The Context
Facebook (Meta) Ads have shifted from a media buying platform to a creative testing platform. Detailed targeting is dead; the algorithm targets based on the creative itself. This playbook provides the modern account structure needed to win.
The Execution Plan
Phase 1: Account Structure
- Consolidate into two campaigns: One for 'Creative Testing' (CBO off) and one for 'Scaling' (CBO/Advantage+ on).
- Stop micro-targeting interests. Use Broad targeting (Age/Gender/Location only) and let the pixel finding buyers.
Phase 2: Dynamic Creative Testing (DCT)
- In your Testing campaign, create an ad set using Dynamic Creative.
- Input 3 videos/images, 2 primary texts, and 2 headlines (3:2:2 method).
- Let it run for 48 hours or until you get 5,000 impressions. Identify the winning combination.
Phase 3: Scaling the Winners
- Extract the Post ID (engagement) from the winning DCT ad.
- Duplicate it into your Scaling/Advantage+ campaign.
- Increase the Scaling campaign budget by 20% every 48 hours as long as ROAS remains above your break-even target.
Expert Pro Tip
Stop pausing ads just because they had one bad day. Meta's learning phase requires minimum 50 conversions a week to stabilize. Look at 7-day rolling averages, not daily fluctuations.
