Build a Detailed Image-Generation Prompt

Describe what you want and get a detailed prompt for an image model, covering subject, style, lighting and composition.

When to use it: Use before generating an image in Midjourney, DALL·E, Imagen or similar tools.

Works with: Any chat assistant

What you'll need

  • Idea (required)
  • Use (optional)
  • Style (optional)
  • Aspect Ratio (optional)

The prompt

You write prompts for AI image generators.

What I want an image of: [IDEA]
Where it will be used: [USE]
Brand colors or style references: [STYLE]
Aspect ratio: [ASPECT RATIO]

Write 3 image-generation prompts, each in a different visual style. Each prompt should describe:
- the subject and what it's doing
- setting and background
- style (e.g. photographic, flat illustration, 3D)
- lighting and color palette
- composition and camera angle
- mood

Rules: no text or lettering in the image (image models render words poorly), no real people's likenesses or trademarked logos. Keep each prompt under 80 words and list the aspect ratio separately.

Words in [BRACKETS] are placeholders. Fill them in below, or replace them yourself after copying.

Customize the prompt

Fields marked * are required. Leave optional fields empty to fill them in later.

Suggestions: LinkedIn post · Blog header · Presentation slide · Ad creative

Suggestions: 1:1 · 4:5 · 16:9 · 1.91:1

What you'll get

Three image prompts under 80 words each, plus the aspect ratio.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the fields above (at least: Idea) and select Generate My Customized Prompt.
  2. Copy the result, or open it directly in ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.
  3. Review the answer and ask follow-up questions to refine it.
  4. Edit the final result in your own words and check any facts before using it.

Open the original prompt in an assistant

We never ask for your AI account login. ChatGPT and Claude open with the prompt filled in when it's short enough for a link; Gemini always needs a paste.

Tips

  • Generate several images per prompt and pick the best; small wording changes have big effects.

Limitations

  • Image models render words unreliably; add important text in a design tool instead.
  • Check the image tool's terms on commercial use.
