Draft a Fair Performance Review

Write a balanced review from your notes and examples, with specific strengths, growth areas and goals.

When to use it: Use during review cycles to turn notes into a clear, fair write-up.

Works with: Any chat assistant

What you'll need

  • Role (required)
  • Period (optional)
  • Goals (optional)
  • Notes (required)
  • Framework (optional)

The prompt

Help me write a performance review.

Role and level: [ROLE]
Review period: [PERIOD]
Goals set at the start of the period: [GOALS]
My notes and specific examples (wins and issues):
[NOTES]
Rating scale or framework we use: [FRAMEWORK]

Write:
1. Summary of the period.
2. Strengths, each backed by a specific example from my notes.
3. Areas for growth, each with an example and what "better" looks like.
4. Progress against each goal.
5. 2–3 goals for the next period.

Rules: use only my examples. Flag anywhere my notes are too thin to support a conclusion. Watch for biased or vague language ("not a culture fit", "abrasive") and suggest specific alternatives.

Words in [BRACKETS] are placeholders. Fill them in below, or replace them yourself after copying.
